HIS is an independent practice run by Jeff Scott, a Chartered Construction Manager/ Surveyor with over 30 years experience in construction now providing professional surveying services and property advice.

What Experience Do You Have? I have been a surveyor for 8 years, previously 29 years as a Project Manager and have experience in valuation and building surveying of residential and commercial property.

What Type Of Surveys Do You Provide? HIS specialise in pre-purchase inspections of residential property including Building Surveys, The RICS Homebuyer Survey and Specific Defect Reports. However, did you know we undertake surveys on Commercial Properties?

Could I Meet You At The Property? With Building Surveys this can be a complicated process and whilst I would not deter anyone from doing so, the advise given on site will be limited pre survey,  due to having to go through all the documentation before writing the report. Often we find that opinions change about the cause of a defect from site to office.

Should I Bother With A Survey? Purchasing a house or flat is the biggest financial commitment most people make in their lifetime; although your mortgage provider may conduct a valuation, this simply provides them with a financial assessment of your property’s approximate value for loan purposes.

Employing the services of a professional surveyor will give you a full and detailed report, and uncover any potential faults of a property before you buy thus enabling you to make an informed decision and avoid unseen costs once you’ve moved in.
